Bhuvaneshwari Jayanti Special 10 Mahavidya Puja and Maa Bhuvaneshwari Tantrokta Yagya for Mental and Physical Strength

According to the Hindu Panchang, Bhuvaneshwari Jayanti is celebrated every year on the Dwadashi Tithi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha. Bhubaneswari is the fifth form of the ten Mahavidyas, the supreme Maa Durga, who revealed herself to the Tridevs (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva). This is detailed in the Devi Bhagavat Purana. It is believed that Mother Bhuvaneshwari is quickly pleased by the worship done on this day and gives divine blessings to her devotees. The ten Mahavidyas are considered manifestations of Maa Durga and the giver of all siddhis (spiritual powers). According to the Devi Bhagavat Purana, the ten Mahavidyas originated from a dispute between Lord Shiva and his wife Sati. Sati insisted on attending a yagya organised by her father, which Lord Shiva ignored. In response, Sati assumed a terrifying form (Kalika Avatar), causing Lord Shiva to be astonished and flee in all directions. To stop him, Sati manifested herself in the ten directions, which are known as the ten Mahavidyas. These ten forms of the goddess are collectively known as the ten Mahavidyas.

According to legend, Maa Bhubaneswari, who is considered to be the gentle incarnation of Maa Durga, is depicted with three eyes and four arms. One hand is in the gesture of granting blessings, while another holds an ankush (a goad). The remaining two hands are in the mudra of pasha (noose) and abhaya (fearlessness). In Hinduism, Pash and Abhaya Mudra are considered symbols of power and fearlessness. Therefore, it is believed that worshipping Maa Bhubaneswari in this form grants blessings of mental and physical strength. The significance of this worship is further enhanced when performed at a Shaktipeeth. Therefore, on the auspicious day of Bhuvaneshwari Jayanti, 10 Mahavidya Puja and Maa Bhuvaneshwari Tantrokta Yagya will be organised in Shaktipeeth Kalighat temple located in West Bengal. According to religious texts, this place is considered extremely sacred because it is where the right toe of Maa Sati fell while Lord Shiva was performing the Tandava with her body. Hence, this place is one of the 51 sacred Shaktipeeths. It is believed that worshipping at this Tantra Peeth brings blessings of all the Mahavidyas. Participate in this worship through Sri Mandir and receive the blessings of the Goddess.

Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple, Kolkata, West Bengal

Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple, Kolkata, West Bengal
The Kalighat Temple, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hinduism and is considered a highly significant pilgrimage site. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, revered as the deity of power, energy, and destruction. According to mythological tales, it is believed that here, the right toe of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Shiva was carrying her burnt body and performing the Tandava dance in grief. For this reason, this place is included among the extremely sacred 51 Shakti Peethas. The temple houses an idol of Goddess Kali in a fierce form, where she is seen standing with her right foot on Lord Shiva's chest, adorned with a garland of soft skulls around his neck, holding some axes and severed heads in her hands, with some skulls tied around her waist. Her tongue is protruding outward with drops of blood dripping from it, made of gold.

The current temple was constructed under the patronage of the Saborno Roychoudhury family & Babu Kaliproshad Dutto, with construction starting in 1798 and completing in 1809. The Kali Ghat Temple holds immense religious and cultural significance. For centuries, it has been a centre of attraction for devotees who come here to fulfil their wishes. Worship of Goddess Kali at Kalighat liberates devotees from fear, negativity, and malevolent energies, bringing peace, prosperity, and success in life. Additionally, the temple is a symbol of Bengal's cultural heritage and hosts grand celebrations during religious festivals, especially Durga Puja and Kali Puja.
