According to legend, Maa Bhubaneswari, who is considered to be the gentle incarnation of Maa Durga, is depicted with three eyes and four arms. One hand is in the gesture of granting blessings, while another holds an ankush (a goad). The remaining two hands are in the mudra of pasha (noose) and abhaya (fearlessness). In Hinduism, Pash and Abhaya Mudra are considered symbols of power and fearlessness. Therefore, it is believed that worshipping Maa Bhubaneswari in this form grants blessings of mental and physical strength. The significance of this worship is further enhanced when performed at a Shaktipeeth. Therefore, on the auspicious day of Bhuvaneshwari Jayanti, 10 Mahavidya Puja and Maa Bhuvaneshwari Tantrokta Yagya will be organised in Shaktipeeth Kalighat temple located in West Bengal. According to religious texts, this place is considered extremely sacred because it is where the right toe of Maa Sati fell while Lord Shiva was performing the Tandava with her body.
