Shradh Shashti 4 Moksha Tirth Special Shiv Rudrabhishek for Well-Being and Abundance in Family

In Sanatan Dharma, Pitru Paksha holds special significance. Each tithi falling during this period has its own importance, one of which is Shashti Tithi. On this day, Shradh is performed for those ancestors who passed away on any Shashti Tithi, according to the Hindu calendar. According to Hindu scriptures, Pitru Dosh occurs due to the unfulfilled desires and negative deeds of the ancestors. Pitru Dosh can lead to various problems in life, such as financial loss, family disputes and more. According to the scriptures performing Rudrabhishek during Pitru Paksha brings peace to the souls of the ancestors. This is why, during Pitru Paksha, devotees perform Rudrabhishek to please Lord Shiva, as His fierce form is considered a symbol of death, destruction, and liberation. Rudrabhishek involves bathing Lord Shiva’s Rudra form (the Shiva Lingam) with sacred water, milk, honey, and other offerings while chanting mantras. It is believed that performing Rudrabhishek on Shashti Tithi during Pitru Paksha not only helps in attaining relief from Pitru Dosh but also brings blessings of happiness and prosperity to the family.

This time, Shradh Shashti falls on a Monday, a day dedicated to Lord Shiva. As a result, the significance of performing Rudrabhishek on this day increases manifold. If this Rudrabhishek is conducted simultaneously at multiple Moksha pilgrimage sites, it can be even more fruitful. According to Hindu scriptures, performing Rudrabhishek at Moksha pilgrimage sites brings special blessings from Lord Shiva and brings happiness and prosperity into life. Therefore, for the first time Rudrabhishek will be organised simultaneously at these holy Moksha pilgrimage sites:

Shri Gangotri Dham, Uttarakhand: Shri Gangotri Dham is the origin place of Maa Ganga. It is believed that this is the place where King Bhagirath performed penance for the salvation of his ancestors, and Lord Shiva held the River Ganga in his matted locks. It is said that performing Rudrabhishek at this sacred site grants moksha (liberation) to the ancestors.

Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, Madhya Pradesh: Omkareshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. It is believed that performing Rudrabhishek here fulfils one's desires and brings blessings of wealth and prosperity.

Mahamrityunjay Mahadev Temple, Kashi: In the Mahamrityunjay Temple of Kashi, good health is wished for by performing Rudrabhishek. This is the only temple in the country where Mahadev is seated in the form of Mrityunjay.

Pashupatinath Mahadev Temple, Haridwar: According to Hindu scriptures, performing Rudrabhishek at the Pashupatinath Mahadev Temple grants devotees purity and moksha (liberation). Devotees believe that worshipping here provides protection from negative influences.

On the auspicious occasion of Shradh Shashti during Pitru Paksha, participate in the Shiv Rudrabhishek held at these four Moksha Tirtha places for the first time through Sri Mandir and get the blessings of Lord Shiva. Additionally, there is a tradition of making donations and offerings for the ancestors during Pitru Paksha. It is believed that donations made during this time yield double the benefits, including special offerings like Pitru Paksha Panch Bhog and Deep Daan. Therefore, selecting additional options such as Panch Bhog, Deep Daan, and Ganga Aarti along with this puja can be especially fruitful for you. By choosing these options, you can enhance the effectiveness of your worship.

Puja Benefits

puja benefits
For Happiness and Prosperity in the Family
Many times, some houses face lack of happiness or financial problems without any apparent reason. One reason for this can also be Pitru Dosh. It is believed that performing puja like Rudrabhishek on Shradh Shashti during Pitru Paksha brings blessings of Lord Shiva, which brings happiness and prosperity in the family. If this Rudrabhishek is performed at four major pilgrimage places, then it is even more fruitful.
puja benefits
For the Peace of the Souls of Ancestors
Due to Pitru Dosh, the problems in people's lives do not seem to end. No matter how much effort a person makes, no work is successful. In the Puranas, there is a provision of Rudrabhishek for the removal of Pitru Dosh. It is believed that performing Rudrabhishek at four Moksha Tirtha places on the holy occasion of Shradh Shashti brings peace to the souls of ancestors and their divine blessings are received.
puja benefits
For Protection from Negative Energies
In Hinduism, Lord Shiva is worshipped as the god who destroys evil forces and protects against negative forces. It is believed that by performing Rudrabhishek in these four Moksha Tirtha places on Shradh Shashti during Pitru Paksha, one gets the blessings of protection from negative energies from Lord Shiva.
puja benefits
Pitru Paksha Special Panch Bhog Mahadaan
During the Pitru Paksha period, the act of giving (Daan) is considered highly significant. Religious texts state that offering food to Brahmans (Brahman Bhoj) along with feeding cows, dogs, birds, and ants is considered a meritorious act, known as Panch Bali or Panch Bhog. It is believed that when these beings are fed during Pitru Paksha, the ancestors are satisfied with the food consumed by them and bestow blessings upon their descendants.

Uttarakhand is known as the Land of Gods (Devbhumi). One of the sacred places located in this holy land is Gangotri Dham, the source of the Ganga River. It is believed that worshipping Maa Ganga at this site fulfills all the devotees' desires. According to mythology, King Bhagirath performed penance here to attain salvation for his ancestors, and Lord Shiva held Maa Ganga in his matted locks to reduce her force. For this reason, it is believed that performing worship here brings peace to the ancestors.

Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is the fourth of Lord Shiva's twelve Jyotirlingas and is considered a self-manifested Linga (Swayambhu). According to the scriptures, merely visiting Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga frees one from all sins. The greatness of the Omkareshwar temple is mentioned in the Skanda Purana, Shiva Purana, and Vayu Purana. According to mythology, Lord Shiva comes here to rest at night after roaming the three worlds. It is said that this is the only place on Earth where Shiva and Parvati play dice (Chaupar) every day.

Lord Shiva's Mrityunjaya form is known for conquering death. It is believed that just by seeing the Shivling in this temple, the danger of untimely death is averted for devotees. According to the Puranas, this ancient temple of Mahadev is thousands of years old. It is described in the scriptures that Lord Dhanvantari, the god of Ayurveda, worshipped Lord Shiva here and blessed the temple's sacred well with medicinal herbs, asking Lord Shiva to remain here in his Mrityunjaya form to protect devotees from fear.

Kedarnath is one of the key pilgrimage sites in the Char Dham Yatra and is known as the abode of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the Kedarnath pilgrimage remains incomplete without visiting the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, Nepal. Recognising this significance, the king of Nepal built a replica of the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu, and on the banks of the Ganga River at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar, he established a Shiv Lingam using the same sacred stone as the original.
