Along with Lord Shiva, Rahu is also worshipped in the Rahu Paithani temple located in Uttarakhand. This is the one of the few Rahu temples in the country, where Rahu is worshipped along with Lord Shiva. According to legends, Rahu and Ketu used to be a demon named Swarbhanu. During the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), when Swarbhanu deceitfully sat among the gods and drank the Amrit, Lord Vishnu realized his deception. To prevent him from becoming immortal, Vishnu severed his head from his body with his Sudarshan Chakra. However, because Swarbhanu had already tasted the Amrit, he became immortal. The lower part of Swarbhanu became Ketu and the part above the head above the torso was called Rahu. This head part, after being cut off from Sudarshan, fell at Pauri which came to be known as the Rahu temple.
The Katra Tirth region, located in the beautiful Trikuta Hills of Jammu, is famous for its divine aura, natural beauty, and religious importance. This sacred site is associated with several Puranic legends of Maa Durga, who is considered a combined form of Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Kali. About 9 km from Katra lies the Nav Durga Mandir, revered as the Temple of Nine Goddesses. The temple is situated inside a natural cave, where rock formations depict the nine forms of Maa Durga. Devotees come here to receive the blessings of all nine Goddesses. During Navratri and on Fridays, the sanctity of this place is considered especially powerful.
