The Jayanti of Maa Bagalamukhi, the eighth goddess among the ten Mahavidyas, is celebrated on Vaishakh Shukla Ashtami with devotion, faith, and special tantric rituals. It is believed that on this sacred day, Maa Bagalamukhi manifested in her divine form from the Haridra Sarovar to protect the entire creation. According to legend, during the Satyuga, when a demon named Madan caused chaos on Earth, Lord Vishnu approached Lord Shiva to find a solution to this crisis. Shiva revealed that only the Adi Shakti could destroy the demon. Pleased with Lord Vishnu’s intense penance, Shri Vidya manifested as Maa Bagalamukhi, annihilated the demon, protected all living beings, and saved the Earth from destruction. Since then, Bagalamukhi Jayanti has been regarded as the most auspicious occasion for Maa Bagalamukhi’s worship. The sadhana (spiritual practice) of Maa Bagalamukhi is considered highly effective for removing obstacles, defeating enemies, and attaining divine protection.
Just like Maa Bagalamukhi, Lord Hanuman and Shani Dev are also considered symbols of protective powers. This is why worshipping all three divine forces on the day of Bagalamukhi Jayanti is believed to be especially rewarding. While the tantric worship of Maa Bagalamukhi grants victory over enemies and success in governmental and legal matters, Lord Hanuman, known as Sankatmochan, protects his devotees and removes fear, diseases, and obstacles.
