The ten forms of Goddess Durga are called Mahavidyas, each believed to grant spiritual powers. Among these, the eighth Mahavidya is Maa Bagalamukhi. Worshipping her is believed to destroy enemies, remove obstacles, and provide protection. Similarly, Goddess Pratyangira, a powerful form of Adi Shakti, is worshipped to remove negative energies and bring peace, protection, and prosperity.
Therefore, the last Purnima of the year is considered highly auspicious for the worship of Maa Bagalamukhi and Maa Pratyangira. Special rituals are conducted, of which the Bagalamukhi-Pratyangira Kavach Paath is the most important. During this ritual, sacred mantras are recited to invoke the divine powers of the Goddess.
It is believed that performing this Kavach Paath on the last Purnima of 2025 removes negativity accumulated over the year and fills devotees with strength, courage, and protection for the coming year. The ritual is further empowered through Bagalamukhi Mool Mantra Jaap and Havan. This special Maha Anushthan will be performed by 36 learned Brahmins at Maa Bagalamukhi Temple in Haridwar.
