According to ancient legends, both Satyanarayana and Dhanvantari are forms of Lord Vishnu. The glory of the Satyanarayana Katha was narrated by Lord Vishnu himself to Sage Narada. The scriptures mention that performing this katha grants the same merit as thousands of years of yagya. Especially on the full moon day, performing this katha brings happiness and prosperity to the household, and the grace of Lord Vishnu remains constant. Similarly, Dhanvantari is considered the deity of health and healing. According to religious texts, after emerging from the churning of the ocean, Lord Dhanvantari requested Lord Vishnu for a place. Vishnu informed him that he was arriving a little late, but he granted him a divine boon that he would be born in a royal lineage during the Dvapara Yuga and be worshipped across the three worlds. As per this boon, in the Dvapara Yuga, Lord Dhanvantari was born as the son of King Kashyapa of Kashi, later studying Ayurveda under Sage Bharadwaja and gaining extensive knowledge of medicinal sciences.
