Karthigai Masam Rohini Nakshatra Special Anna Lingam Puja and 10,000 Chandra Dosh Shanti Puja for Blessings of Mental and Physical Wellbeing

Karthigai Masam is considered as one of the most auspicious months in the Tamil calendar. This sacred month brings a unique atmosphere of devotion, particularly dedicated to Lord Shiva. This month is considered highly auspicious to perform Shiv puja. This year, this month is considered auspicious for performing religious rituals, especially when aligned with the Rohini Nakshatra. This Nakshatra is ruled by the Moon, and is considered an ideal time to perform rituals to appease Chandra Dev. According to astrology, when the Moon faces malefic influences in a person’s horoscope, it can lead to Chandra Graha Dosh, resulting in emotional disturbances, mental stress, and difficulties in decision-making. In such cases, worshipping Chandra Dev becomes essential, as he governs the mind and promotes mental clarity and stability. Ancient texts also depict the deep bond between Lord Shiva and Chandra, as Shiva once blessed Chandra Dev, relieving him from the curse of diminishing phase imposed by King Daksha. This act bestowed the Moon with the cyclical waxing and waning phases, symbolising his restoration and eternal connection with Shiva.

Hence, during Karthigai Masam, performing the Chandra Dosh Shanti Puja is considered especially auspicious to alleviate the effects of Chandra Graha Dosh. As part of this belief, devotees often donate white essentials, such as rice or milk, as an offering to seek relief from Chandra Dosh. Chandra Dev is also associated with the colour white, which is believed to soothe his energies. Because of this, devotees create a Shiva Lingam from a heap of white rice, symbolising purity and devotion to Lord Shiva through the Anna Lingam Puja. The white rice lingam represents both the Moon’s affinity with the colour white and his eternal connection to Lord Shiva, strengthening the bond between them and enhancing the puja's potency. It is believed that performing these pujas during the auspicious conjunction of Karthigai Masam and Rohini Nakshatra brings blessings of mental and physical wellbeing. Therefore, Anna Lingam Puja and 10,000 Chandra Dosh Shanti Puja will be organised at the Etteluthuperumal Temple in Tirunelveli, South India. Therefore, participate in this special puja through Sri Mandir and receive the divine blessings of Lord Shiva and Chandra Dev.

Puja Benefits

puja benefits
Blessings for Mental and Physical Well-Being
In astrology, Chandra (the Moon) is known as the controller of the mind, and any malefic influence on him can lead to emotional stress, mood swings, and difficulty in decision-making. Performing Chandra Dosh Shanti Puja during Karthigai Masam, especially under the Rohini Nakshatra, is believed to bring relief from Chandra Graha Dosh, blessing the devotee with mental clarity, emotional stability, and overall well-being. This period is considered especially potent due to the conjunction of the auspicious month with Rohini Nakshatra, fostering a tranquil state of mind and promoting physical health.
puja benefits
Protection from the Negative Influences of the Moon
According to sacred texts, Lord Shiva’s blessings liberated Chandra Dev from the curse of gradual decline imposed by King Daksha, symbolising the Moon’s eternal cycle of waxing and waning. To this day, worshipping Chandra Dev during Karthigai Masam at Rohini Nakshatra is believed to protect from the adverse effects of an unfavourable Moon in one's horoscope, fostering positive thinking, emotional balance, and resilience against mental disturbances.
puja benefits
Cultivation of Positive Habits and Emotional Stability
When the Moon is unfavourable in a horoscope, it can sometimes lead to negative behaviour patterns. The Anna Lingam Puja, where a Shiva Lingam made of white rice is offered, along with the 10,000 Chandra Dosh Shanti Puja at Etteluthuperumal Temple, is regarded as a potent remedy to neutralise these effects. This ritual not only fortifies one’s mind against negative thoughts but also encourages the development of healthy habits and a stable emotional outlook. Devotees believe that participation in these rituals can enhance mental clarity and foster a harmonious balance between mind and body.

Etteluthuperumal Temple, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu
The Etteluthuperumal Temple, located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, is a revered shrine imbued with deep spiritual significance. Established 120 years ago by the esteemed sage Mayandi Siddhar, the temple is a testament to enduring tradition and devotion. Sage Mayandi Siddhar constructed the temple following a profound meditation and vision of Lord Ram. The temple has witnessed numerous miracles, including the main statue of Lord Perumal, which was sculpted by an ordinary person with no formal knowledge of sculpture. The temple houses several sacred idols, including the notable Sphatika Lingam made of pure clear quartz.

According to the Shastras, worshipping the Sphatika Lingam is believed to imbue devotees with confidence, self-worth, and power, while alleviating worries and negative influences. This Sphatika Lingam is particularly significant as it is one of the largest in India, after the one in Rishikesh. The temple is also renowned for its association with Lord Ram, as it is believed to be the site where Lord Ram granted moksha to Jatayu and performed his father’s last rites. Devotees visit the Etteluthuperumal Temple to seek blessings from Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Lord Kartikeya, Lord Shiva, and Lord Hanuman. Performing puja here is believed to fulfil devotees' wishes and bless them with success in all endeavours.
