According to religious scriptures, the day of Purnima (Full Moon) is considered a day of virtue and liberation. On this auspicious occasion, taking a holy dip in sacred rivers like the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati is believed to yield great spiritual merit. The Purnima that falls in the month of Magha is also known as Maghi Purnima and is regarded as highly auspicious for performing religious rituals. Baba Bhairav is considered the fifth incarnation of Lord Shiva and has two main forms—Kaal Bhairav and Batuk Bhairav. According to legend, when Goddess Parvati assumed the ferocious form of Goddess Kali to slay the demon Daruk, she became uncontrollable. To pacify her, Lord Shiva took the form of a five-year-old child and addressed her as "Mother," which melted her heart and transformed her back into Goddess Parvati. The form of Lord Shiva that calmed the Goddess is known as Batuk Bhairav.
The child form of Lord Bhairav, Shri Batuk Bhairav, is considered the giver of wealth and prosperity. It is believed that Lord Bhairav, an incarnation of Lord Shiva, was born on the day of Purnima. Hence, worshipping Lord Bhairav on this auspicious day is said to bring immense blessings. According to scriptures, the Swarnakarshan Bhairav Puja is performed to attract wealth and prosperity, leading to the attainment of eight great siddhis. Worshipping this form of Lord Bhairav grants blessings for debt relief, financial abundance, stability in life, and protection from adversities.
