When Ghushma came to know of this tragedy, she did not fall apart. Instead, with unshaken faith, she continued her daily worship. Pleased with her unwavering devotion, Lord Shiva appeared before her, brought her son back to life, and offered her a boon. Ghushma requested Shiva to forgive Sudaha and to stay at that place forever. Lord Shiva granted her wish and declared, “I shall reside here as Ghushmeshwar, named after you.” Thus, the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga was established. Therefore, on the spiritually charged Somvati Amavasya, when Amavasya aligns with Monday, a special Shiv Rudrabhishek and Rudra Homam will be performed at this sacred Jyotirlinga. It is believed that participating in this puja brings peace to the souls of ancestors and helps resolve family disputes and inner conflicts. The rituals include sacred abhishek with water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar, along with Rudra mantras and offerings into the fire during the homam. When Ghushma learned of her son’s death, she remained absorbed in her worship, placing complete faith in Lord Shiva. Moved by her devotion, Shiva appeared before her, revived her son, and offered her a boon. Ghushma asked Shiva to forgive her sister and reside at that very place. Shiva agreed and declared that he would be known as Ghushmeshwar, residing eternally there. Thus, Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga came into existence, and to this day, devotees perform 101 parikramas as a tribute to Ghushma’s faith and surrender.
