Gaya city, located in Bihar, which is also known as Bodh Gaya, has special significance for Pind Daan here. By performing Pind Daan and Tarpan at this place, ancestors attain moksha, therefore this holy place is also called Moksha Sthali (Place of Salvation). It is believed that all the Gods and Goddesses, besides Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, are present here. The importance of Gaya is evident from the fact that Shraddha rituals and Pind Daan were performed on the banks of the Falgu river here for the peace and moksha of the soul of King Dasharatha. Gaya city is also described in the Vayu Purana, Garuda Purana, and Vishnu Purana.
Pishach Mochan Kund, located in Kashi, is especially famous for Pitru Dosha Shanti (pacifying ancestral fault). Its description is found in the Garuda Purana and Kashi Khand, which states that by performing Pind Daan, Tarpan, and Pitru Dosha Nivaran Puja (ritual for removal of ancestral fault) at this Kund (pond), the incomplete desires of ancestors are fulfilled, and they attain peace and liberation. The history of Pishach Mochan Kund is very old. It is said that this pilgrimage site existed before the descent of the Ganga. This Kund is connected to the story of a Brahmin who became a Pishach (demon/ghost) due to his karmas. Under the guidance of Maharishi Valmiki, he worshipped Kapardeshwar Mahadev and bathed in this Kund to attain liberation. Since then, this place has become famous by the name Pishach Mochan.
Assi Ghat, Kashi, also called Varanasi or Banaras, is located on the bank of the holy Ganga, and Assi Ghat is one of the most important spiritual sites here. Pilgrims from all over the country and abroad come here to take a holy dip in the Ganga, as they believe that this bath washes away their sins and clears the path to liberation. It is said that taking a bath in the Ganga, participating in the Ganga Aarti, and offering prayers at Assi Ghat on auspicious occasions brings the blessing of health, prosperity, and spiritual growth, and also brings peace to the ancestors.
