Today, we will tell you about one such mysterious temple that has even caught the attention of American scientists. About 8 kilometres from the city of Almora in Uttarakhand, there is a village called Kasar, and it is here that the Kasar Devi Mata Temple is situated. This temple is recognized as one of the 108 Siddh Shakti Peeths. It is believed that there is a unique magnetic force in the temple area, and several scientists have visited here to unravel its mystery. Apart from scientists, domestic and international tourists, as well as mountaineers, also visit this place. This temple gained prominence when Swami Vivekananda meditated here. Every year, a Kasar Fair is held here on Kartik Purnima, attracting thousands of devotees.
History of the temple
According to mythological stories, the Kasar Devi Temple was established in the 2nd century. This ancient temple, located on the Kashyap Hill, is believed to have been founded by followers of the ancient Kashyapa tradition who came from Western Asia around 900 years before Christ. It is said that the community's name gave rise to the name of Kasar Devi. In addition to this, according to local legends, the temple was built by the Katyuri kings, who were known for their devotion to Goddess Durga. It is said that Goddess Katyayani first appeared in the Kasar Devi Temple in Almora. Therefore, the puja of Goddess Katyayani, the 6th form of Navadurga, is performed in this temple. It is believed that Swami Vivekananda also meditated here in 1890, after which he attained spiritual enlightenment. During the 1960s and 1970s, this place gained popularity during the hippie movement. The entire area around the Kasar Devi Temple is a magnetic field known as the Van Allen Belt of the Earth. It is said that within the Earth's crust, there is a massive geophysical lump of magnetic charge, known as radiation. Such a phenomenon exists in only three places in the world: Kasar Devi, Machu Picchu in South America, and Stonehenge in England. NASA scientists have been studying the reasons behind the formation of this belt in the Kasar Devi Temple for several years. There are 8 GPS markers designated in the temple premises, which NASA has used to explain Gravity Point.
Significance of the temple
Devotees believe that any wish made in this temple is fulfilled by the goddess. The presence of a magnetic field around the temple is believed to generate a unique kind of energy in the body. It is said that the Buddhist guru Lama Anagarika Govinda practised special meditation in the Kasar Devi Temple cave. It is believed that meditating around the temple premises leads to the attainment of extraordinary power.
