This is why, during this Navratri, a grand ritual will be performed at the Siddhpeeth Bhuvaneshwari Devi Temple in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. According to legend, when Lord Shiva was insulted during King Daksha's Yagya, Goddess Sati, in anger, gave up her life. After this event, Lord Shiva roamed the universe, carrying Sati's body in rage. During this time, as Lord Shiva became uncontrollable, even the wind began to cease, as Lord Shiva is considered the deity of wind. With the stoppage of wind, all beings invoked Goddess Mahamaya at this place, and Goddess Bhuvaneshwari manifested. After her praise, Lord Shiva calmed down, and the goddess asked the worshippers to request a boon. The devotees asked that Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, as the consort of Lord Shiva, reside at this place. Since then, Lord Shiva and Goddess Bhuvaneshwari have been worshipped here together. It is believed that worship during Navratri in this temple is especially powerful. Goddess Bhuvaneshwari is considered a very gentle form of Goddess Durga, and her worship brings swift results. Therefore, through this special ritual at the temple, participate and receive blessings for protection from negative influences and the attainment of bliss in life.

During this time, as Lord Shiva became furious, the winds also became obstructed, as it is believed that Lord Shiva is the deity of the winds. In response to this obstruction, the people collectively invoked Mahamaya at this place, and Goddess Bhuvaneshwari appeared. After the praise of the goddess, Lord Shiva regained his composure, and then the goddess asked for a boon. The person worshipping Mahamaya asked for the boon that Goddess Bhuvaneshwari would reside here as the consort of Lord Shiva. Since then, both Shiva and Mahamaya Bhuvaneshwari have been residing here. It is believed that even today, during the nine nights of Navratri, the goddess's procession comes to the temple to receive offerings. Thousands of devotees gather here during the Chaitra and Shardiya Navratri. Currently, a beautiful and grand temple complex along with a large dharamshala has been constructed. It is believed that performing 11, 21, or 108 circumambulations (Parikrama) of the temple according to one's faith fulfils their wishes.
