Panch Moksha Tirth Mahalaya Amavasya Mahapuja Pitru Dosha Shanti Panch Tirth Mahapuja and Ganga Dudh Abhishek for Peace of Ancestor's souls and Resolving Family Disputes

In Hinduism, Pitru Paksha is considered very significant. It is believed that our ancestors, who have passed away, come to Earth during the 15-day period of Pitru Paksha. During this time, you can invite them, make them happy, and seek their blessings. The last day of Shradh Paksha is called Mahalaya Amavasya, which holds great importance in Hinduism. It is believed that if a person is unable to perform Shradh for their ancestors during Shradh Paksha, either due to some reason or if they are unaware of the exact tithi of their ancestors' passing, they can perform the Shradh on this day. This brings peace to the souls of their ancestors. Mahalaya Amavasya is also known as Pitru Visarjan Amavasya, Pitru Moksha Amavasya, and Sarva Pitru Amavasya. The significance of Pitru Paksha is extensively mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures such as the Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas. According to the Garuda Purana, performing Shradh, Tarpan, and Pind Daan is essential to free oneself from the debt owed to one's ancestors. A person who does not properly perform the Shradh of their ancestors faces various difficulties in life. It is believed that families affected by Pitru Dosha experience issues such as a lack of job promotions, difficulties in their children's careers and education, and health problems for the main family member. Moreover, if this sacred ritual is performed at the five Moksha Sthalis, one can receive a thousand times greater benefits. Let us now understand the importance of Pitru Puja at these five holy Moksha pilgrimage sites on the highly auspicious occasion of Mahalaya Amavasya.

🛕 Ganga Ghat, Haridwar: The Ganga River is known as Mokshadayini (the giver of liberation). It is believed that performing Tarpan in the Ganga brings peace to the souls of the ancestors and that their blessings are bestowed upon their descendants, leading to happiness, peace, and prosperity in their lives.

🛕 Pishach Mochan Kund, Kashi: This kund (sacred pond) in Varanasi is especially significant for ancestors whose souls are restless due to sinful actions in their previous lives. It is believed that worshipping here liberates the ancestors from the Pishach Yoni and helps them ascend to the heavenly realms.

🛕 Dharmaranya Vedi, Gaya: The sacred site of Gaya is considered highly auspicious for performing Pitru Puja and Shradh. The rituals performed here bring peace to the ancestors' souls and help them attain liberation. This site is associated with Lord Vishnu, whose grace helps bring peace to the ancestors.

🛕 Shri Gangotri Dham, Gangotri Dham: As the origin of the Ganga River, this pilgrimage site holds special importance. According to mythological tales, Bhagirath performed penance here to achieve liberation for his ancestors. Therefore, the water of the Ganga at this site is considered particularly effective in alleviating Pitru Dosha.

🛕 Narmada Ghat, Khandwa: The Narmada River is also known as Mokshadayini (the giver of liberation). Performing Tarpan and Pind Daan on the banks of the Narmada brings peace to the ancestors and their blessings lead to the well-being and prosperity of their descendants.

It is believed that performing a Ganga Dudh abhishek along with this Mahapuja brings blessings from the ancestors. Additionally, during the Pitru Paksha, there is a tradition of performing acts of charity for ancestors. It is believed that offerings made during this time yield double the rewards. These offerings include Panch Bhog, lamp offerings (Deep Daan), and Ganga Aarti. By incorporating these additional options—such as Panch Bhog, Deep Daan, and Ganga Aarti—you can enhance the effectiveness of your puja and gain greater benefits. Participate in the Pitru Dosha Shanti Panch Tirth Mahapuja and Ganga Dudh Abhishek organised for the first time by Sri Mandir.

puja benefits
Attainment of a Healthy Life
Pitru Dosha can lead to physical or mental health issues within the family. Individuals affected by Pitru Dosha often struggle to find effective treatments for recurring health problems or illnesses. This special puja at Panch Tirth on Mahalaya Amavasya, helps in alleviating health issues and blesses participants with a healthy and happy life.

Pitru Paksha Special Panch Bhog Mahadaan
During the Pitru Paksha period, the act of giving (Daan) is considered highly significant. Religious texts state that offering food to Brahmans (Brahman Bhoj) along with feeding cows, dogs, birds, and ants is considered a meritorious act, known as Panch Bali or Panch Bhog. It is believed that when these beings are fed during Pitru Paksha, the ancestors are satisfied with the food consumed by them and bestow blessings upon their descendants.

Ganga Ghat, Pishach Mochan Kund, Dharmaranya Vedi, Shri Gangotri Dham, Narmada Ghat, Haridwar, Kashi, Gaya, Gangotri Dham, Khandwa, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh
In Sanatan Dharma, it is believed that performing Pitru Dosha Puja at Moksha Sthali during the Pitru Paksha yields highly auspicious results. Therefore, this year, for the first time, a grand event will be held during Pitru Paksha, which includes a combined Mahapuja at the Panch Moksha Tirths such as Ganga Ghat Haridwar, Pishach Mochan Kund, Dharmaranya Vedi, Shri Gangotri Dham, and Narmada Ghat, along with Ganga Dudh Abhishek. This event will provide devotees with a profound spiritual experience.

The Ganga Ghat in Haridwar is considered sacred because the Ganga River descends from the mountains into the plains here. Performing Pitru Tarpan and Pind Daan is of special significance at this site. It is believed that performing Pind Daan and Shradh in the holy water of the Ganga grants liberation (moksha) to the ancestors.

The Pishach Mochan Kund in Kashi holds special significance in providing peace to the souls of ancestors. Performing Tarpan here helps in liberation from Pitru Dosha. The Pishach Dosha affects souls that are trapped due to wrong deeds during their lifetime. Taking a holy dip and performing Tarpan in this Kund brings peace to the ancestors.

The Dharmaranya Vedi in Gaya is highly effective for resolving Pitru Dosha. Performing Shraddh rituals here grants moksha to the ancestors. This place is associated with Lord Vishnu, so the Pitru Puja performed here brings peace to the ancestors.

Shri Gangotri Dham, being the source of the Ganga, is extremely sacred for the ancestors. According to legend, Bhagirath performed penance here to grant liberation to his ancestors. Therefore, the Ganga water here is considered particularly effective for resolving Pitru Dosha.

The Narmada River is also considered important for the peace of the souls of ancestors. Performing Tarpan and Pind Daan on the banks of the Narmada River brings peace to the ancestors, and they bless their descendants.

Performing Pitru Puja at these five sacred places grants peace and liberation to the ancestors, thereby making the descendants' lives prosperous and joyful.
