According to Hindu scriptures, the gods struggled to defeat the demon Raktabija, who was blessed with the power to reproduce from every drop of blood that touched the ground. As the gods fought him, his blood created more demons, making him nearly invincible. In their desperation, the gods sought help from Lord Shiva. To defeat Raktabija, Maa Kali appeared and spread her tongue over the battlefield, ensuring that no blood fell to the ground and thus preventing the demon from reproducing. Performing Divya Mahakali Tantrokta Havan and Kali Kavach Path is considered highly beneficial. Because they are a sacred fire ritual and recitation of a mantras dedicated to Maa Kali, is believed to seek her blessings for courage and protection from obstacles. It is believed that performing this puja with devotion, is believed to attain fearlessness and protection from negative energies. According to legends, this place is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, where a part of Maa Sati's right foot fell when Lord Shiva was performing the Tandav dance with her body.
