Rishi Pippalapad was a great ascetic and scholar of the Vedas, known as the author of the "Prashna Upanishad", which is one of the 10 Upanishads. It is said that he meditated under a Pippal tree, which is how he got his name Pippalapad. Rishi Pippalapad is considered a symbol of dharma, meditation, and spiritual practice, and his Shani Stotra holds great significance among scholars.
This Saturday marks the last Shani Amavasya of the year. If the Shani Stotra written by Rishi Pippalpad is recited along with Til-Tel Abhishek on this day, it is believed that deep Shani doshas (afflictions) can be pacified. Shani Amavasya falls on the new moon day when the moon aligns with the sun, and negative energies are at their peak. On this special day, offerings like donations, oil, and chanting of Shani mantras are performed to reduce the malefic effects of Shani.

Shani Mahadasha is a seven-and-a-half-year period in a person's life, during which the influence of Shani, based on its position, brings both positive and negative effects. Sade Sati is the period when Shani transits through two-and-a-half houses of one's zodiac, which may bring difficulties, stress, physical ailments, and financial problems. On Shani Amavasya, the ritual of Til-Tel Abhishek is a special puja method where Shani Dev is bathed with sesame oil. It is believed that "the God of Karma and Justice" becomes pleased with these rituals, and the rare doshas like Sade Sati start transforming into good karma.
