According to the Hindu calendar, the Purnima falls on the last day of the Shukla Paksha of each month. The significance of the Purnima that occurs in the month of Margashirsha is even greater. Margashirsha Purnima holds special importance in Hinduism and is also known as Tripurari Purnima. The child form of Lord Bhairav, known as Shri Batuk Bhairav, is considered the bestower of wealth and prosperity. It is believed that worshipping this form of Lord Bhairav on Purnima is highly beneficial. Additionally, Sunday is regarded as particularly auspicious for the worship of Bhairav Baba. The name Bhairav means "the protector." Lord Bhairav is considered the fifth incarnation of Lord Shiva, with two prominent forms—Swarnaakarshan Bhairav and Batuk Bhairav. Swarnaakarshan Bhairav is believed to resolve the financial problems of devotees. According to ancient legends, during a battle between the gods and the demons, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera ran out of wealth. Worried, they approached Lord Shiva, and one of his forms, Swarnaakarshan Bhairav, bestowed immense wealth upon them, leading to the gods' victory. This form of Bhairav resides in Mahadev's city, Kashi (Varanasi).
It is believed that Lord Bhairav, in his eight forms, protects the eight different directions of Kashi. Each of these Ashta Bhairavs has unique attributes and qualities. Among them, Shri Swarnaakarshan Bhairav is known to bless devotees with abundant wealth and prosperity. According to scriptures, the worship of Swarnakarshan Bhairav is performed to attract wealth and prosperity, granting the eight great siddhis. Worshipping this form of Bhairav is said to provide freedom from debt, financial stability, and abundance. Religious texts state that in Kashi, Baba Vishwanath appointed Bhairav as the Kotwal (chief guardian) and Dandnayak (chief enforcer) of the city. Worship in Mahadev's city, Kashi, is considered incomplete without paying homage to Bhairav.
