Lord Bhairav is the fierce aspect of Lord Shiva. As per the scriptures, when Lord Brahma disrespected Shiva, the latter manifested as Kaal Bhairav and severed Brahma’s fifth head, incurring the sin of Brahmahatya. To atone, Bhairav wandered the earth and ultimately attained liberation in Kashi, where he is now revered as the guardian deity. He protects the city and its devotees from all evil. Goddess Mahakali, the supreme embodiment of Shakti, is renowned for slaying the demon Raktabeej. To prevent his blood from giving rise to more demons, she extended her tongue to absorb every drop before it touched the earth. Though fierce in form, Maa Kali is compassionate and fiercely protective of her devotees. It is believed that the combined worship of these three divine protectors creates a powerful spiritual shield, liberating devotees from hidden dangers, negative energies, and enemy influences.
