The Ashtavinayak Yagya is a fire ritual dedicated to the eight forms of Lord Ganesh. During this puja, oblations are offered to the sacred fire while chanting mantras dedicated to each of the eight forms of Lord Ganesh. It is believed that this puja creates a protective shield around the individual, safeguarding them from negative energies and the inauspicious effects caused by these forces. For this reason, devotees perform the Ashtavinayak Yagya for protection against negative energies. Performing this puja on the Shukla Chaturthi in the month of Kartik is believed to be particularly beneficial, as this final month of the Chaturmas is considered auspicious for all types of pujas in Sanatan Dharma. Additionally, Chaturthi is associated with the birth of Lord Ganesh, as per religious belief, as Lord Ganesh was born on Shukla Paksha Chaturthi.
