🔱 ✨ This Diwali Night of Power and Light, Seek the blessings of Maa Dakshina Kali, the destroyer of all darkness and take a step forward in freeing yourself from deep-seated fears that hold you back from stability and success

🪔In the Vedic calendar, Kartika Amavasya, the sacred night of Diwali, holds immense spiritual significance. Scholars believe when the Sun, representing the soul, and the Moon, representing the mind, come together in perfect alignment - this cosmic event creates a powerful moment for inner change -because when the soul and mind are united, it becomes easier to let go of fear and confusion. Scriptures describe Amavasya as the night when Shakti - Divine Feminine energy - manifests in her most potent form to destroy inner and outer darkness. The night of Amavasya is the time when Shakti manifests in her supreme form and destroys all darkness. According to the scriptures, the midnight period of Diwali is considered highly auspicious. Worship during this time is believed to help enhance mental stability, fearlessness, and spiritual strength. On this auspicious Diwali night, worship of Maa Dakshina Kali, the fiercest embodiment of Shakti, becomes especially powerful. As the world illuminates itself with countless diyas, invoking Maa Kali amidst the natural darkness is said to burn away deep-seated fears, doubts, and negative influences that limit one’s growth.

🪔It is in this transformative power that the legend of Raktabija finds its meaning. Hindu Scriptures tell us that even the Gods once faced a crisis when the fearsome demon Raktabija could multiply from every drop of his blood that touched the ground. As despair grew among the deities, Maa Durga manifested her fiercest form - Maa Kali -from her third eye. With her dark form, blazing eyes, and a garland of skulls, she devoured every drop of Raktabija’s blood, ending his terror. This story is symbolic of how Maa Kali consumes and transforms every trace of fear and negativity into divine power. Her worship on Amavasya night thus becomes an act of burning the inner “Raktabija” - the thoughts, anxieties, and unseen fears that multiply within us - through surrender and devotion.

🪔This Mahanisha Puja is performed at the holy Kalighat Shaktipeeth, where the toes of Maa Sati’s right foot are believed to have fallen. Here, during the sacred midnight hours of Diwali, the energy of Maa Dakshina Kali is invoked through Stotram Path and Havan. The sacred fire is said to burn away fear and all negative influences, while the powerful mantras form an invisible shield of divine protection.

Through Sri Mandir’s special Diwali-night worship, you can invite the blessings of Maa Dakshina Kali into their lives - for fearlessness, emotional balance, and divine protection against all forms of darkness.

Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple, Kolkata, West Bengal

Shaktipeeth Kalighat Temple, Kolkata, West Bengal
The Kalighat Temple, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in Hinduism and is considered a highly significant pilgrimage site. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, revered as the deity of power, energy, and destruction. According to mythological tales, it is believed that here, the right toe of Goddess Sati fell when Lord Shiva was carrying her burnt body and performing the Tandava dance in grief. For this reason, this place is included among the extremely sacred 51 Shaktipeeths. The temple houses an idol of Goddess Kali in a fierce form, where she is seen standing with her right foot on Lord Shiva's chest, adorned with a garland of soft skulls around his neck, holding some axes and severed heads in her hands, with some skulls tied around her waist. Her tongue is protruding outward with drops of blood dripping from it, made of gold.

The current temple was constructed under the patronage of the Saborno Roychoudhury family & Babu Kaliproshad Dutto, with construction starting in 1798 and completing in 1809. The Kali Ghat Temple holds immense religious and cultural significance. For centuries, it has been a centre of attraction for devotees who come here to fulfil their wishes. Worship of Goddess Kali at Kali Ghat liberates devotees from fear, negativity, and malevolent energies, bringing peace, prosperity, and success in life. Additionally, the temple is a symbol of Bengal's cultural heritage and hosts grand celebrations during religious festivals, especially Durga Puja and Kali Puja.
