When Vrinda discovered the deception, she became furious and cursed Lord Vishnu to turn into stone. As a result, he transformed into a black stone known as Shaligram. Later, Goddess Lakshmi approached Vrinda and pleaded with her to withdraw the curse. Upon Goddess Lakshmi’s request, Vrinda retracted her curse. Overcome with grief at the loss of her husband, Vrinda sacrificed her life and became a sati. From her ashes sprouted a plant, which Lord Vishnu named Tulsi. He declared that from that day forward, his Shaligram form, created due to the curse, would always be worshipped alongside Tulsi. Thus, Vrinda became revered as Tulsi forever. Every year, on the Ekadashi of Kartik month, devotees perform various rituals to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Tulsi Mata. These include the Shaligram Panchamrit Abhishek, Tulsi Vivah Pujan and 11,000 Vishnu Dwadasakshari Mantra Jaap. This puja will be organised at the Shri Dirgh Vishnu Temple in Mathura.
