As per a mythological story, Lord Surya married Sanjna, the daughter of Daksha. However, Sanjna was troubled by the unbearable radiance of Surya. To escape this, she created her shadow form, Swarnā, without Surya's knowledge. Through Swarnā, Surya fathered three children: Tapti, Bhadra, and Shani. Shani inherited the shadowy attributes of his mother. When Shani was born, Surya doubted his parentage because his golden complexion darkened upon being gazed at by Shani. Seeking a resolution to this curse, Surya approached Lord Shiva, who revealed the entire truth to him. Realizing his mistake, Surya apologized to Sanjna, but by then, the relationship between Surya and Shani had soured. This strained relationship is believed to have an astrological impact that manifests as conflicts in one’s horoscope.
