Pitru Paksha Shraddh Purnima 8 Moksha Teerth 8 Maha Sevas

When they were here, you could give them things - a meal, warm blanket, something to make the road easier. On Shraddh Purnima, the first day their journey begins, you still can. Not in the way you used to. But through 8 Sevas, at 8 of the holiest sites in Hinduism, every need they carry on that journey is answered.
Garuda Purana describes the ancestor's journey as a difficult one. Manu Smriti teaches that ancestors receive every Seva through a Brahmin's hands: "Brahmanasya mukhena tu pitaro'shnanti sadaa", ancestors always receive the offering through the Brahmin's mouth.

🔱 8 Sevas, 8 Teerths. Every Need Answered.
1. Gau Seva - Parmartham Gaushala, Mathura The Garuda Purana describes the Vaitarani, the great river every soul must cross on the journey to Yamapuri. For the ancestor whose descendant performed Gau Seva, the crossing is made holding the cow's tail, accompanied, not alone. Mathura, where Krishna was born and spent his childhood among cows, is where this Seva carries the deepest grace.
2. Til Seva - Dharmaranya Vedi, Gaya
Black sesame is the single most sacred substance in the Shraddh tradition, born from Vishnu's sweat, it dissolves karmic residue on the ancestral path. At Dharmaranya Vedi in Gaya, where Vishnu liberates ancestors from whatever state they are in, Til Seva carries that dissolution to the holiest ground in creation.
3. Bhojan Seva - Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj
The ancestor receives the essence of food, Kavya, through the Brahmin's mouth. At Triveni Sangam, where Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati converge and the Agni Purana promises every offering generates Akshaya Punya, Bhojan Seva carries nourishment to your ancestor through the King of all Tirthas.
4. Vastra Seva - Ganga Ghat, Haridwar
The Garuda Purana describes Vastra Daan as providing subtle covering to the ancestor's soul through the cosmic channel, protection for the journey ahead. At Haridwar, where Maa Ganga brought liberation to Bhagiratha's 60,000 ancestors, Vastra Seva wraps your ancestor's subtle form in the grace of the most sacred river in creation.
5. Ghee Deepdaan - Assi Ghat, Kashi The Garuda Purana describes the ancestor's path as one of great darkness. A Diya lit with Ghee is a companion on that dark road. At Assi Ghat in Kashi, where Shiva's Tarak Mantra is ever-present and no soul is ever truly lost, your Deepdaan enters the city where darkness has never won.
6. Fruit Distribution Seva - Gokarna Teerth Kshetra, Karnataka Fruit carries abundance and sweetness, offered in the ancestor's name, it brings the essence of fullness to their journey. At Gokarna, where Shiva's primordial Atmalinga rests in the earth, Fruit Seva is offered in the presence of the most powerful Shiva Kshetra in the south.
7. Umbrella & Footwear Distribution Seva - Shipra Ghat, Ujjain The Garuda Purana describes the ancestral path as long and harsh, the Umbrella protects from what bears down from above, the Footwear eases what lies beneath. At Shipra Ghat in Ujjain, the abode of Mahakal who holds authority over time itself, this Seva places that protection in your ancestor's hands at the city where every offering reaches across all time.
8. Blanket Distribution Seva - Saryu Ghat, Ayodhya Warmth and comfort for the ancestor's journey, Garuda Purana speaks of the soul's need for rest and covering on the long path ahead. At Saryu Ghat in Ayodhya, the first of the Sapta Puris, where Lord Ram performed Shraddh for his own ancestors and returned to this river at the end of his earthly journey, your Blanket Seva carries the warmth of remembrance to your ancestor on the most dharmic of grounds.
