Most Tarpan reach the ancestor who is already in Pitru Loka, waiting to receive. Pishach Mochan Kund carries a different and more specific purpose. It is the one Kund in all of Kashi dedicated to ancestors in Pret or Pishach Yoni, those who could not receive proper Shraddh or never reached Pitru Loka, who wander between worlds without direction. Tarpan at Pishach Mochan is a search. The Kund's specific sanctity means that Tarpan performed here carries the intention of seeking out the wandering ancestor, finding them where ordinary Tarpan cannot reach and guiding them toward the path of liberation through the permanent grace of Shiva's Tarak Mantra that surrounds them here.
