Janmashtami Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Vrindavan Bhatraund Bihari Ji Chadhava

🦚 Vrindavan has hundreds of temples but only one is built on the ground where Krishna sat hungry and turned away a yajna to accept devotee's meal. Shri Bhatraund Bihari Ji Temple stands at the exact spot where this happened, in the village still named for the cooked grain He received that day. On Janmashtami, the day He chose to descend for His devotees, the Chadhava will be offered here in your name.

The Day Krishna & Balram Went Hungry
While grazing cows nearby with the other cowherd boys, Krishna and Balram grew hungry. Krishna sent his sakhas to a group of Brahmanas performing a fire sacrifice close by, asking for food. Absorbed in the formality of their ritual, the Brahmanas turned the boys away.

🙏What Happened Next Gave This Village Its Name:
Krishna then sent the boys to the wives of those same Brahmanas. The moment they heard Krishna's name, everything changed - the women left whatever they were doing, some breaking open locked doors just to reach the food inside, and carried out plates straight to him in the open fields.
The Bhagavatam doesn't soften what it says next: even men learned in the Vedas were shamed that day by the pure devotion of their own wives. The village came to be called Bhatraund - Bhat, for the cooked rice and grain carried that day, and Raund, meaning village.

🕉️Why This Ground Still Matters
Bhatraund isn't a story about food. It's the place where Krishna himself defined what he actually accepts - not the correctness of a ritual, not the learning behind it, but the sincerity of the person offering it. For a festival built entirely around welcoming Krishna the way he wants to be welcomed, few places carry that lesson as directly as this one does.

Travelling to Bhatraund is not something every devotee can manage - especially on the night of Janmashtami. But Sri Mandir makes your full participation certain. Purohitji will perform the Chadhava with complete vidhi at Bhatraund Bihari Ji Temple, in your name - Book Now.
