Their Suphal (sacred approval) at the close of every rite is the ritual seal without which the offering cannot be considered complete. The Pandas serve as living witnesses between the descendant and the ancestor realm.

Skanda Purana records that Dharmaraj Yudhishthira himself performed Pind Daan at this Vedi for the peace of all souls who perished in the Mahabharata war.
