Sawan Ekadashi Gaya Pitru Shanti Ahuti & Panda Seva

🕉️ Not every debt belongs to the living. Some are carried silently across generations, left behind by ancestors whose wishes remained unfulfilled. The Bhavishya Purana mentions Kamika Ekadashi as a sacred day when prayers offered with devotion are believed to reach even departed souls. And when such prayers are offered at Gaya, the eternal land of Pitru Karya, they become a profound act of remembrance, gratitude, and ancestral peace.

🔥Why Pitru Shanti Ahuti & Panda Seva?
In Vedic tradition, Agni (fire) is the cosmic bridge between the living and the ancestor realm. What is offered into the sacred fire is received by the Pitrus in the most purified form as nourishment, peace, and liberation. The Garuda Purana affirms: Ahuti (fire offering) performed with correct sankalp breaks the conditions of Pitru Dosha at its root.
The Gayawal Pandas are the hereditary custodians of Dharmaranya Vedi, appointed by tradition to guard its sanctity across centuries. Their Suphal (sacred approval) at the close of every rite is the ritual seal without which the offering cannot be considered complete. The Pandas serve as living witnesses between the descendant and the ancestor realm.

Why Dharmaranya Vedi, Gaya is the Supreme Pitru Teerth?
Of all the sacred sites in India, Vayu Purana declares Gaya to stand supreme for ancestral rites: "Pitru-tirtheshu sarveshu Gaya-tirtham vishishyate." Gaya is the Moksha-bhumi, where Lord Vishnu presides and where the merit of even a single offering is declared Akshaya. Within Gaya, Dharmaranya Vedi holds a place of exceptional sanctity. It is counted among the Panch Teerth Vedis (Five Sacred Altars) of Gaya. Skanda Purana records that Dharmaraj Yudhishthira himself performed Pind Daan at this Vedi for the peace of all souls who perished in the Mahabharata war.
