Katyayani Peeth is situated in the sacred town of Vrindavan, in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Among the 51 Shakti Peethas dedicated to the Goddess, Katyayani Peeth is located in Lord Krishna's city, Vrindavan. This is a very ancient and renowned Siddha Peeth near Radha Bag. Here, Goddess Sati is known as 'Uma' and Lord Shankar is known as 'Bhutesh'. It is said that Goddess Sati's hair fell here, which is also mentioned in the scriptures, including Shrimad Bhagavatam's 22nd chapter of the 10th Skandha.
History of the temple
Katyayani Peeth was established by Swami Keshavananad in February 1923. In this temple, along with Goddess Katyayani, there are idols of Lord Panchanan Shiva, Vishnu, Surya, and Siddhidata Ganesh. The devotees become mesmerized by the spiritual ambiance of the temple and find peace in their hearts and minds. The crowd of devotees at Katyayani Peeth is always present. It is said that even Radharani worshipped this Shakti Peeth to attain Lord Sri Krishna.
Significance of the temple
Unmarried young men and women visit Katyayani Peeth during Navaratri to seek the blessings of Goddess Katyayani for finding their desired life partner, and their wishes are believed to be fulfilled. It is said that before killing his maternal uncle, Kansa, Lord Krishna worshipped Goddess Katyayani. He made the deity's idol with sand on the banks of the Yamuna and performed the puja.
