It is considered to be a contemporary of Indreshwar Mahadev Mandir, the oldest temple in Indore. Significance of the Temple

The deity is adorned with a special Shringaar on Sundays when the temple becomes a hub of devotees. While the Havana and worshipping are observed throughout the years, special ceremonies are observed on the occasion of Amavasya. It is believed that Kal Bhairav protects his devotees against all evils and blesses them with peace and prosperity.

Architecture of the Temple

Kal Bhairav Temple houses a big saffron idol of the deity face, who wears the traditional Maratha cap. With big eyes and an open mouth, the statue becomes an enticing symbol of divinity. It is placed on an elevated platform surrounded by brightly colored curtains. The entrance of the temple carries a poster that mentions Lord Bhairav, as the alcohol-consuming deity.

Offerings of the Temple

Lord Kal Bhairav is pleased with the offerings of alcohol. Devotees also offer sweets and Imarti to the deity but they are instructed to keep it by the side of the idol.

How to Reach

Kal Bhairav Temple is around 9 km from Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport. Bus and autos are readily available at the airport. The temple is over 2 km away from the Indore Railway Station. You can take an auto or taxi to Pandharinath from the station. The temple is located close to the Pandharinath Chauraha, which is around 2 km from the Sarwate Bus Stand. You can easily travel to Indore from any district in Madhya Pradesh via the bus services provided by the state transport corporation and private agencies.
