India is home to numerous temples dedicated to Goddess Shakti, which serve as major centers of devotion for millions of devotees. Among these divine sites is the Kali Maa Temple of Kadrabad, located in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. This sacred temple is recognized as a Siddhpeeth and is revered not only for its religious importance but also for the mythological stories, saints’ penance, and natural surroundings that make it truly special.
Kadrabad village, situated just 5 km from the Jarifnagar police station, was once known as an area with a strong flow of the Ganga River. It is believed that several centuries ago, the river Ganga used to flow through this region. Saint Shiromani Hari Baba built a 40-mile long embankment to protect the area from frequent floods of the Ganga, ensuring safety for the entire region. A branch of the Ganga, known as the Mahawa River, flowed through this region. On the banks of this river, Saint Bhole Baba performed intense penance dedicated to Kolkata Kali Maa. Impressed by his devotion, Goddess Kali appeared before him, and it was here that the temple was established. Over time, this place gained recognition as a Siddhpeeth, attracting devotees from far and wide.
The temple’s architecture follows the traditional Indian temple style. Although not extremely grand in size, its purity, spiritual aura, and divine energy attract devotees naturally. The main sanctum houses a striking black-stone idol of Goddess Kali, radiating power and divine presence. Inside the temple complex, rows of bells are hung by devotees once their wishes are fulfilled. Each day, hundreds of devotees visit the temple, and the sound of bells echoes continuously, creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere. The temple stands as a symbol of living energy where devotees’ faith becomes the greatest strength.
The temple remains open every day for devotees. The general visiting timings are: Morning: 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Evening: 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
On special occasions like Amavasya, Navratri, and Kali Puja, the temple witnesses huge crowds and often remains open throughout the night.
The offerings made to Goddess Kali hold a special significance. The most important among them are: Lemon sacrifice (Nimbu Bali)
Halwa
It is believed that lemons are dear to the Goddess, and offering them helps protect devotees from negative forces. Devotees also offer halwa, coconut, chunari, and decorative items to the Goddess. The prasad is considered extremely sacred and is believed to bring mental peace and spiritual strength
