ISKCON Temple Kanpur

ISKCON Temple Kanpur is one of the major religious and spiritual attractions in Uttar Pradesh. Dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha Rani, the temple is managed by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). It is widely known for its grand architecture, divine atmosphere, and regular spiritual programs. The temple is located about 4 km from Kanpur, on Mainavati Marg along the Bithoor Road. The best time to visit is during August and September, as Krishna Janmashtami and Radhastami are celebrated during these months. This temple is extremely beautiful and houses idols of Lord Krishna along with several other deities. The impressive marble structure of the temple is both grand and inspiring. Visitors can easily spend half a day exploring the temple premises, browsing the spiritual bookstore, meditating in the peaceful environment, and offering prayers to Radha and Krishna. The temple has its own cow shelter (gaushala). These cows, considered to represent Mother Earth according to the Vedas, are lovingly cared for and worshipped.

The milk from these cows is used to prepare prasad for devotees. It is also used during abhishekam (ritual bathing of deities).

There is an in-built Govinda’s Restaurant that serves thali meals and a variety of vegetarian dishes.

To spread Krishna consciousness, the temple organizes various bhajans, kirtans, classes, and festivals throughout the year.

2. Beautiful Shikhar (Temple Tower) The main shikhar is tall and made of white stone. It can be seen from afar and has a traditional kalash at the top, symbolizing Hindu temple heritage.
3. Extensive Use of Marble and Granite White marble and polished granite have been used throughout the temple complex, giving it a serene and divine appearance.
4. Spacious Courtyard and Gardens Lush greenery and well-maintained gardens surround the temple. The open spaces and seating areas make it ideal for meditation and relaxation.
5. Intricate Carvings and Artwork The walls and pillars are adorned with carvings depicting Lord Krishna, Radha Rani, and various scenes from the Bhagavad Gita and Krishna Leela.
6. Large Prayer Hall with Glass Decoration The kirtan hall is spacious and air-conditioned. It hosts regular kirtans, discourses, and devotional gatherings. The hall’s lighting and glass décor add to its grandeur.

Devotees are offered pure and sattvic prasadam, prepared without onion, garlic, or any non-vegetarian ingredients, in accordance with Vaishnav traditions. Sattvic Food: Healthy, pure, and spiritually energizing.

Maha-Prasad Distribution: During festivals such as Janmashtami, Radhastami, and Gaura Purnima, thousands of devotees are served mahaprasad.
