The temple attracts devotees from across India and the world. It is believed that anyone who visits this temple with devotion finds peace, success, and happiness in life.
The temple was built in 1864 by Swami Haridas, a great saint and devotee of Lord Krishna and Radha. According to the story, Lord Krishna and Radha appeared together in front of Swami Haridas at Nidhivan. Their divine form was so beautiful and radiant that ordinary people could not bear to see it.
So, Swami Haridas requested them to appear in a simpler form that everyone could see and worship. Lord Krishna and Radha accepted the request and merged into a single form, now known as Banke Bihari Ji. In 1921, followers of Swami Haridas reconstructed the temple as it stands today.
