The Nav Chandi Havan involves the chanting of the 700 verses from the Durga Saptashati, which are divided into nine chapters. It is believed that performing the Nav Chandi Havan, which includes the chanting of Durga Saptashati at the Kalimath Temple on the auspicious day of Kalashtami, blesses devotees with the courage to overcome negativity and adversities. Performing the Maa Kali Tandav Stotra Path and Kali Sahasra Namavali alongside this havan is considered highly auspicious. It is believed that the Shri Kali Tandava Stotram was composed by Adi Shankaracharya. Additionally, reciting the Kali Sahasra Namavali, which consists of 1,000 names of Maa Kali, is said to bless devotees with good health and protect them from all negative energies. Therefore, on the auspicious day of Kalashtami, the Maa Kali Tandav Stotra Path, Kali Sahasra Namavali, and Nav Chandi Havan will be organised at the Kalimath Temple. Devotees worship the Kunda inside the temple, it is only opened on the Ashtami during the whole year in the Shardiya Navratras. The divine goddess is taken out and worship is also done only at midnight, then only the chief priests are present.
