Shradh Saptami Kashi Special Narayan Bali, Naag Bali and Pitru Shanti Mahapuja for Peace of Departed Souls and Protection from Negative Energies

In Sanatan Dharma, Pitru Paksha holds special significance. This period is considered the most auspicious for the peace of the souls of ancestors. Each day within this period has its own importance, and one such day is Saptami Tithi. On this day, the Shradh of those ancestors is performed, who died on the Saptami Tithi of any month or died due to accidents. On this day, one can perform Shradh for their ancestors and receive their blessings. According to scriptures, during the period of Pitru Paksha, our ancestors descend from Pitru Loka to Earth, and they bless their descendants when they are pleased with the Shradh, Tarpan, and Pind Daan performed by them. The time of Pitru Paksha is also considered auspicious for the removal of Pitru Dosh. According to the Garuda Purana, for those whose last rites could not be performed, it is prescribed to conduct the Narayan Bali, Naag Bali, and Pitru Shanti Mahapuja for their peace. Performing this ritual during Pitru Paksha can greatly amplify its benefits. Due to Pitru Dosh, various problems such as financial losses, family disputes, and other troubles can persist in life. The Narayan Bali Puja is performed for the removal of Pitru Dosh, while the Naag Bali Puja aims to nullify the sin of killing a serpent or snake. According to the scriptures, both these pujas are effective only when performed together. Lord Vishnu further explains in the Garuda Purana that these special rituals should be performed on the banks of sacred rivers like the Ganga by experienced pandits.

In Hinduism, rituals like Narayan Bali, Naag Bali Puja, or Pitru Shanti Mahapuja at the Assi Ghat in Kashi are considered to have profound spiritual significance. These rituals are believed to aid in bringing peace to departed souls, removing Pitru Dosha, and resolving various difficulties in life. According to the Garuda Purana, performing this special puja on the banks of sacred rivers amplifies its effects many times over, as it is believed that the holy water of the Ganga helps absolve karmic debts. Therefore, on the auspicious occasion of Shradh Saptami during Pitru Paksha, a Narayan Bali, Naag Bali, and Pitru Shanti Mahapuja will be organised at Assi Ghat in Kashi. Participate in this special puja through Sri Mandir and receive blessings for peace for the departed souls and protection from negative energies. Additionally, during Pitru Paksha, there is a tradition of performing acts of charity for ancestors. It is believed that offerings made during this time yield double the rewards. These offerings include Panch Bhog, lamp offerings (Deep Daan), and Ganga Aarti. By incorporating these additional options—such as Panch Bhog, Deep Daan, and Ganga Aarti—you can enhance the effectiveness of your puja and gain greater benefits.

Puja Benefits

puja benefits
For Peace and Liberation of Departed Souls
This puja provides peace and liberation to those ancestors who have passed away untimely. Through this puja, it helps alleviate the suffering of those souls, ensuring peace in the afterlife, which can reduce the negative impact on living descendants. According to the Puranas, this ritual can free departed souls from worldly attachments. It is believed that performing Narayan Bali, Naag Bali and Pitru Shanti Mahapuja on Shradh Saptami during Pitru Paksha brings peace and liberation to the souls of the ancestors.
puja benefits
To Remove Pitru Dosha
It is believed that performing Narayan Bali, Naag Bali, and Pitru Shanti Mahapuja on Shradh Saptami during Pitru Paksha can help remove ancestral curses that cause difficulties in the descendants' lives. Additionally, it can eliminate obstacles affecting the lineage, promoting harmony, prosperity, and well-being, while improving health and relationships.
puja benefits
For Family Unity
Sometimes, even when there is no clear reason, families experience ongoing tension and disputes. One possible cause for discord in the home is Pitru Dosh. Performing this puja on Shradh Saptami can help alleviate family conflicts and foster a sense of unity and togetherness.
puja benefits
Pitru Paksha Special Panch Bhog Mahadaan
During the Pitru Paksha period, the act of giving (Daan) is considered highly significant. Religious texts state that offering food to Brahmans (Brahman Bhoj) along with feeding cows, dogs, birds, and ants is considered a meritorious act, known as Panch Bali or Panch Bhog. It is believed that when these beings are fed during Pitru Paksha, the ancestors are satisfied with the food consumed by them and bestow blessings upon their descendants.

The city of Kashi, also known as Banaras or Varanasi, is situated on the banks of the Ganges River. This city is also referred to as the abode of Lord Shiva. Kashi is considered the oldest city in the world. The 84 Ganga Ghats of this city further increase the religious importance of this city. People from all over the country and abroad come here to take a bath in the Ganga. It is believed that taking a holy dip in the Ganges during auspicious times or special religious days brings immense blessings and paves the way for spiritual liberation.

According to ancient legends, Sage Bhagirath performed intense penance to free his ancestors from their curse. Pleased by his severe penance, Goddess Ganga descended to Earth. However, her descent was so rapid that if she had fallen directly to Earth, it would have caused devastation and she would have ended up in the underworld. To prevent this disaster, Sage Bhagirath prayed to Lord Shiva. Consequently, Lord Shiva gathered Maa Ganga in his matted hair and Maa Ganga came to earth via Mount Kailash. This is why Lord Shiva is also known as Gangadhar. Hence, the Ganga ghats are not only known for bathing but also for worshipping Lord Shiva. Devotees pray, perform Aarti, and meditate at the Ganga ghats, seeking Lord Shiva's blessings for health, prosperity, and spiritual growth.
