According to ancient legends, Ahiravan and Mahiravan, tantric lords of Patal Lok, abducted Lord Ram and Lakshman on Ravana’s orders to sacrifice them. While the Vanar Sena fell into a magical sleep, Hanuman Ji stayed awake and descended into Patal Lok. To destroy the demons, he had to extinguish five magical lamps burning in different directions—simultaneously.
