The Pishach Mochan Kund in Kashi is particularly famous for Pitru Dosh Shanti. The history of Pishach Mochan Kund is ancient. It is said to predate even the descent of the Ganga on earth. This site is connected to the story of a Brahmin who, due to his past deeds, became a Pishach (spirit). Following the guidance of Sage Valmiki, he worshiped Kapardeshwar Mahadev and bathed in the Kund, attaining liberation. Since then, this place has been known as Pishach Mochan — the site of release from lower states of existence.
