Mahalaya Amavasya Gaya Special Til Tarpan and Pind Daan for peace of ancestors’ souls and relief from family disputes

🙏🕯️ The last chance to please ancestors and seek their blessings

🌑✨ Do not miss this Mahalaya Amavasya. Become a part of the sacred Til Tarpan 🌾 and Pind Daan 🍃 rituals in Gaya and attain spiritual merit.
In Sanatan Dharma, Pitru Paksha holds special importance. This period is dedicated to remembering ancestors and performing rituals for the peace of their souls. Among these, the Amavasya tithi, also called Sarvapitru Amavasya or Mahalaya Amavasya, is considered the most sacred. On this day, Shraadh is performed for ancestors whose date of death is unknown or whose Shraadh was missed. It is believed that on this day, ancestors visit their descendants’ homes, and when offered Tarpan and Pind Daan, they are pleased and bless the family. This year, Mahalaya Amavasya is even more special because according to astrology, this is a rare coincidence, taking place after many years, when both the beginning and the end of Pitru Paksha are occurring during eclipses.

Learn the Importance of Til Tarpan and Pind Daan 🙏

During Pitru Paksha, two main rituals are performed. The first is Pind Daan, which means offering food to the ancestors, and the second is Tarpan, which means offering water. According to the scriptures, when Tarpan is done with til (sesame seeds) and water with devotion, it reaches the ancestors like nectar. It is believed that performing these rituals at a sacred place increases their benefits. The Garuda Purana and Vayu Purana mention that performing Shraadh, Tarpan, and Pind Daan is the duty of every person. This brings the blessings of ancestors and keeps peace in the family. Those who do not remember their ancestors or perform Shraadh may face obstacles and difficulties in life.Problems such as marital delays, concerns about children, struggles in career or education, or health issues are considered the results of neglecting these duties.

Therefore, performing Shraadh and Tarpan to satisfy and bring peace to ancestors is essential. In Hindu tradition, the Dharmaranya Vedi in Gaya is a highly revered place for Pitru Shraadh. It is believed that performing Pind Daan and Shraadh here brings satisfaction to ancestors and merit to the descendants.

For this reason, Sri Mandir is organizing Pind Daan and Til Tarpan in Gaya on Mahalaya Amavasya. By participating in these sacred rites, you too can become a part of this auspicious karma and earn blessings.

Dharmaranya Vedi, Gaya, Bihar

Dharmaranya Vedi, Gaya, Bihar
Gaya, located in Bihar and also known as Bodh Gaya, holds great importance for Pind Daan. Performing Pind Daan and Tarpan here is believed to grant liberation to ancestors, which is why this place is also called Moksha Sthali (the abode of liberation). It is said that all deities including Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh reside here. The importance of Gaya is highlighted by the fact that Shraddh and Pind Daan were performed here on the banks of the Phalgu River for the peace and liberation of King Dasharatha’s soul. Gaya is mentioned in the Vayu Purana, Garuda Purana, and Vishnu Purana as well.
The centuries-old tradition of Tarpan and Pind Daan continues even today at the sacred pind vedis around Gaya. As per Skanda Purana, Dharmaranya Pind Vedi was where Dharmaraja Yudhishthira performed Pind Daan during the Mahabharata war for the peace of those killed in battle. Among the five sacred vedis, Dharmaranya Vedi holds a special place. It is believed that Pind Daan and Tripindi Shraddh performed here help remove negative ancestral influences and grant peace to departed souls.
