Gaya Tripindi Shraddh – In this ritual, holy pindas (rice balls) made of sesame seeds, rice, and kusha grass are offered for three generations father, paternal grandfather, and paternal great-grandfather. This act is performed as a mark of respect and remembrance, and it is believed to bring peace to ancestral souls and blessings of stability and well-being to the family.
Til Tarpanam – Performed using sesame seeds, water, and sacred mantras, this ritual is considered helpful in reducing negative influences and invoking ancestral blessings. It may help create a more peaceful and balanced environment within the household.

The city of Gaya located in Bihar, also known as Bodh Gaya, has special significance for Pind Daan here. Performing Pind Daan and Tarpanam at this place may lead to the ancestors attaining salvation, which is why this holy place is also called Moksha Sthali (Place of Salvation).
It is believed that apart from Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, all other deities reside here. The significance of Gaya is also known from the fact that Shraddh rites and Pind Daan were performed here on the banks of the Falgu river for the peace and salvation of the soul of King Dasharatha. The city of Gaya is also described in the Vayu Purana, Garuda Purana, and Vishnu Purana.
The process of Tarpanam and Pind Daan, which has been going on since ancient times, is still continuing today on the Pindvedis (altars for Pind Daan) located near the holy land of Gaya. According to the Skanda Purana, Dharmaraj Yudhisthira performed Pind Daan at the Dharmaranya Pindvedi for the peace of the souls and repentance of those killed during the Mahabharata war.
Dharmaranya Vedi is counted among the Panchteerth Vedis (Five Holy Altars) in Hindu rites. It is believed that Pind Daan and Tripindi Shraddh at Dharmaranya Pindvedi have special significance. Pind Daan and Tripindi Shraddh performed here may grant freedom from evil spirits and may lead to all ancestors attaining salvation.
