To rescue them, Hanuman Ji entered the netherworld, where he learned that to defeat them, five lamps had to be extinguished simultaneously. Hanuman Ji then assumed the Panchmukhi form and extinguished all five lamps at once, destroying the demons. It is believed that Maa Kali’s divine power supported him in this act, symbolizing the victory of dharma. This story represents the union of Hanuman Ji’s devotion and Maa Kali’s Shakti, together forming complete protection and the destruction of negativity.

Located in Kolkata, West Bengal, Kalighat Temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths and is considered a highly significant pilgrimage site. The temple is dedicated to Maa Kali, worshipped as the goddess of power, energy, and destruction.
According to mythology, when Lord Shiva was carrying the body of Goddess Sati in grief, the toe of her right foot fell at this place. Hence, this site became one of the sacred Shaktipeeths. The idol of Maa Kali here is in her fierce form, standing with her right foot on Lord Shiva’s chest. She is adorned with a garland of skulls, holds weapons and severed heads, and has her tongue extended, symbolizing divine shakti.
The present temple was constructed under the patronage of the Sabarna Roy Choudhury family and Babu Kaliprasad Dutta. Construction began in 1798 and was completed in 1809. Kalighat Temple holds immense religious and cultural significance and has been a center of devotion for centuries. It is believed that worshipping Maa Kali here helps remove fear, negativity, and evil influences, while bringing peace, prosperity, and success in life.
