Shradh Dwadashi Omkareshwar and Narmada Ghat Combo Narayan Bali, Naag Bali and 11,000 Shiv Aghor Mantra Jaap for Peace of Departed Souls and Protection from Negative Energies

In Sanatan Dharma, Pitru Paksha holds special significance. This period is considered the most auspicious time for the peace of ancestors' souls. According to the scriptures, during Pitru Paksha, our ancestors descend from the Pitru Lok to Earth and are pleased with the Shradh, Tarpan, and Pind Daan performed by their descendants, bestowing their blessings. Every tithi of Pitru Paksha has its own special significance, and among them, Dwadashi Tithi is noteworthy. It is also known as Baras Shradh. This tithi is the right time to perform the Shradh and Tarpan rituals of the ancestors who died on the Dwadashi tithi of any month. The period of Pitru Paksha is also considered auspicious for seeking relief from Pitru Dosh and for bringing peace to ancestors. According to Hindu scriptures, 'Pitru Dosh' arises due to the unfulfilled desires and negative actions of ancestors. As per the Garuda Purana, Pitru Dosh causes various issues in life, such as financial loss, family discord, and other persistent problems. In the Garuda Purana, Lord Vishnu tells Garuda, the king of birds, that to remove Pitru Dosh and bring peace to the souls of the ancestors, one should perform the Narayan Bali and Naag Bali pujas. These pujas provide peace and liberation to the departed souls. The Narayan Bali puja is performed to resolve Pitru Dosh, while the primary purpose of the Naag Bali puja is done to get rid of the sin of killing a snake or serpent. According to the scriptures, these two pujas are only effective when performed together.

In the Garuda Purana, Lord Vishnu further explains that this special puja should be performed by experienced pandits on the banks of holy rivers. The Shiva Aghor Mantra is a powerful mantra dedicated to Lord Shiva, which has the ability to free souls from the cycle of birth and death. This mantra is particularly devoted to Lord Shiva in his Aghor form. Lord Shiva is also worshipped as the deity who destroys obstacles and balances karmic energies. Therefore, performing Narayan Bali, Naag Bali, and chanting the 11,000 Shiva Aghor Mantras not only brings peace to the souls of ancestors but also provides protection from negative energies. Performing this mantra Jaap at one of the Jyotirlingas enhances its significance even further. Therefore, this mantra Jaap will be conducted at Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, which is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. This Jyotirlinga is located on the banks of the Narmada River, so the Narayan Bali and Naag Bali Puja will be performed at Narmada Ghat. Additionally, During Pitru Paksha, there is a tradition of performing acts of charity for ancestors. It is believed that offerings made during this time yield double the rewards. These offerings include Panch Bhog, lamp offerings (Deep Daan), and Ganga Aarti. By incorporating these additional options—such as Panch Bhog, Deep Daan, and Ganga Aarti—you can enhance the effectiveness of your puja and gain greater benefits. Therefore, participate in this puja through Sri Mandir for the peace of your ancestors' souls and protection from negative energies and receive the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Pitru Dosh is also considered to be one of the reasons for troubles in the house, so it is believed that performing Narayan Bali, Naag Bali and 11,000 Shiv Aghor Mantra Jaap on Shradh Dwadashi at the beginning of Pitru Paksha, one gets the blessing of freedom from family disputes.

Pitru Paksha Special Panch Bhog Mahadaan
During the Pitru Paksha period, the act of giving (Daan) is considered highly significant. Religious texts state that offering food to Brahmans (Brahman Bhoj) along with feeding cows, dogs, birds, and ants is considered a meritorious act, known as Panch Bali or Panch Bhog. It is believed that when these beings are fed during Pitru Paksha, the ancestors are satisfied with the food consumed by them and bestow blessings upon their descendants.

Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple and Narmada Ghat, Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh

Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple and Narmada Ghat, Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh
The fourth Jyotirlinga among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva is Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, considered a Swayambhu lingam. It is located in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh on the island of Mandhata or Shivpuri in the Narmada River. Here, the Jyotirlinga exists in two forms. One is known as Mamleshwar and the other as Omkareshwar. Mamleshwar is located a little distance away on the southern bank of the Narmada from Omkareshwar. Despite being separate, they are counted as one. The pronunciation of 'Omkar' first emerged from the mouth of the creator Brahma. The recitation of the Vedas also begins with 'Om'. It is believed that the Narmada river itself flows here in the shape of 'Om'. People perform Pitru dosh puja here for the peace of ancestors' souls. According to scriptures, merely visiting Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga can liberate one from all sins. The glory of the Omkareshwar Kshetra is mentioned in the Skanda Purana, Shiva Purana, and Vayu Purana.

According to legend, Lord Shiva comes here to rest at night after wandering through all the three worlds. It is said that this is the only temple on earth where Shiva and Parvati play the game of dice every night. After the Shayan Aarti at night, a dice board is set up here, and the Garbhgriha is closed. Surprisingly, even though no one can enter the temple at night, the dice are found scattered every day. This fact further enhances the religious significance of this temple. This is why after visiting all other pilgrimages, a visit and worship at Omkareshwar holds special importance. Pilgrims bring water from all other holy places to offer at Omkareshwar, only then are all pilgrimages considered complete; otherwise, they are considered incomplete.
