Legend has it that King Vikramaditya was an ardent devotee of Devi Harsiddhi and offered his head at her feet around eleven times, and each time, the divine mother miraculously revived him. It is believed that even Lord Krishna himself worshiped Devi Harsiddhi. He sought her blessings to acquire the power needed to defeat demons. After his victory over the demons, Lord Krishna built this temple in her honor. When the demon king Jarasandha was defeated, all the Yadavas celebrated their success at this very temple.
