Vaikunth Chaturdashi is a special day when both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are worshipped together, which is a rare occurrence. According to the Hindu calendar, Vaikunth Chaturdashi is celebrated on the 14th day of the Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month, and it is also known as Harihar Milan (the union of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva). There is a legend behind this occasion. When Lord Vishnu awakens from his Yog Nidra, he travels to Kashi to worship Lord Shiva. At the Manikarnika Ghat, he takes a bath and vows to offer 1,000 golden lotus flowers to Lord Shiva. During this time, Lord Shiva decides to test Vishnu by taking away one flower, but Vishnu, in his devotion, decides to offer his eye instead. However, Lord Shiva appeared and stopped him from doing so. Pleased by Lord Vishnu’s love and devotion, Lord Shiva blessed him with the Sudarshan Chakra and declared that any devotee who worships Lord Vishnu on this day will directly reach his abode, Vaikunth. Since then, Vaikunth Chaturdashi has been celebrated with great reverence.

On this day, Lord Shiva (Har) and Lord Vishnu (Hari) unite, which is why Bilva leaves, which are dear to Lord Shiva, are offered to Lord Vishnu, and Tulsi leaves, which are dear to Lord Vishnu, are offered to Lord Shiva. On this auspicious occasion, devotees perform various rituals to please both deities, including chanting the Shiv Panchakshari and Vishnu Dwadakshari mantras. It is believed that the worship of Lord Vishnu on Vaikunth Chaturdashi should be done during Nishit Kaal (the midnight period according to the Hindu time system). Therefore, on this day, 11,000 Shiv Panchakshari and Vishnu Dwadakshari Mantra Jaap and Bilva and Tulsi Shahasra Archana Puja at Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Temple.

Participate in this puja through Sri Mandir and seek blessings from both deities for family peace, prosperity, and happiness.

The fourth Jyotirlinga among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiv Ji is Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, considered a Swayambhu lingam. It is located in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh on the island of Mandhata or Shivpuri in the Narmada River. Here, the Jyotirlinga exists in two forms. One is known as Mamleshwar and the other as Omkareshwar. Mamleshwar is located a little distance away on the southern bank of the Narmada from Omkareshwar. Despite being separate, they are counted as one. The pronunciation of 'Omkar' first emerged from the mouth of the creator Brahma. The recitation of the Vedas also begins with 'Om'. It is believed that the Narmada river itself flows here in the shape of 'Om'. According to scriptures, merely visiting Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga can liberate one from all sins. The glory of the Omkareshwar Kshetra is mentioned in the Skanda Purana, Shiva Purana, and Vayu Purana.

The ancient Shri Dirgha Vishnu Temple in Mathura is believed to date back to the time of Lord Krishna. It houses a rare, long form of Lord Vishnu’s idol - a unique representation across India. It is believed that those who bow here with faith have their sorrows removed by Lord Hari Himself. Unmarried women who observe the 16-Monday Vrat and worship Vishnu here are blessed with their desired partner, free from marriage obstacles, and endowed with the joy of family life. The Varaha Purana, Narada Purana, and Bhagavata Purana all mention this temple. In these texts, Lord Vishnu declares that no place in the three worlds - earth, sky, or nether regions - is dearer to Him than Mathura. The temple was established around 4,500 years ago to commemorate Lord Krishna’s six-armed form and protect the Yamuna Prayag region. The grand idol depicts Krishna’s divine form revealed at the time of Kansa’s slaying.
