This is a recital of 1000 names of Lord Vishnu, taught by Bhishma to Yudhishthira in the Mahabharata. It is said to reduce mental stress, protect from bad dreams, and enhance one’s fortune. This jaap performed by learned Brahmins can also open the doors to moksha (liberation). According to the Puranas, King Harishchandra, known for his commitment to truth, sacrificed his kingdom, wife, and son to fulfill his vow. Enduring immense suffering, he sought guidance from Maharishi Gautama, who advised him to observe the Aja Ekadashi fast. King Harishchandra followed this ritual faithfully, and his sins were wiped away, restoring his kingdom, family, and ultimately granting him moksha (liberation).

Shri Rahu Paithani Temple in Uttarakhand:
Located in Uttarakhand, the Shri Rahu Paithani Temple is one of the few temples where Rahu is worshipped alongside Lord Shiva. According to mythology, Rahu and Ketu are parts of the demon Swarbhanu’s body. During the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan), Swarbhanu deceitfully drank Amrit (nectar) while sitting among the gods. Lord Vishnu, realizing the deception, used his Sudarshan Chakra to sever his head from his body to prevent him from becoming immortal. However, because Swarbhanu had consumed Amrit, he became immortal. The lower part of his body became Ketu, and the head part became Rahu. This head fell at Paudi, where the Rahu Temple was established.
