According to legend, when Mother Yashoda denied Lord Shani a glimpse of baby Krishna, Lord Shani withdrew to a forest near Nandgaon and entered deep meditation. Hence, chanting Krishna’s name is considered especially effective in pacifying the malefic effects of Shani.
