When Sati expressed her desire to attend her father Daksha's yajna and Shiva tried to stop her, she revealed her true form as Mahakali. To halt Shiva, she manifested her ten fierce forms - later known as the ten Mahavidyas.
Among them, Goddess Bagalamukhi is the eighth and is revered as the deity of Stambhana Shakti - the power to paralyze an enemy’s speech, thoughts, and actions. Her worship is especially recommended for overcoming legal issues, court cases, government hurdles, and adversarial challenges. Specific ritual methods are said to bring victory over enemies, success in disputes, and the possibility of wealth. Scriptures also state that Shani Dev, known as the Lord of Justice, was granted this role through Lord Shiva’s blessing. As a devout follower of Shiva, Shani Dev delivers results based on one’s karma. Therefore, Shani sadhana performed on the last Saturday of Sawan is considered highly rewarding.
