Shradh Chaturdashi Special Pitru Dosh Shanti Mahapuja and Ganga Dudh Abhishek for Mental and Physical Well-Being of the Family

In Sanatan Dharma, Pitru Paksha holds special significance. This time is considered the most auspicious for performing all rituals dedicated to the peace of the ancestors' souls. According to scriptures, during Pitru Paksha, our ancestors come to earth from the Pitru Loka and, pleased with the Shradh, Tarpan, and Pind Daan performed by their descendants, they bless them. Each day of Pitru Paksha has its unique importance, and among these, Chaturdashi Tithi is one. It is also known as Shradh Chaturdashi. On this day, the Shradh is performed for those ancestors who passed away on any Chaturdashi Tithi of any month according to the Hindu calendar. The time of Pitru Paksha is also considered auspicious for the resolution of Pitru Dosha. According to Hindu scriptures, 'Pitru Dosha' arises due to the unfulfilled desires and negative actions of ancestors. A person afflicted by this dosha faces ongoing financial difficulties, relationship conflicts, and health-related problems. It is believed that performing the Pitru Dosha Shanti Mahapuja helps one attain freedom from Pitru Dosha. The scriptures also mention that along with the Pitru Dosha Shanti Mahapuja, performing the Ganga Dudh Abhishek is highly beneficial. It is believed that performing the Ganga Dudh Abhishek along with the Pitru Dosha Shanti Mahapuja brings blessings for the mental and physical health of the family.

If both these rituals are performed at a religious site, their significance increases even further. From a religious perspective, the Assi Ghat in Kashi and the Ganga Ghat in Haridwar hold great importance. Kashi's Assi Ghat is a revered site for performing ancestral rituals. It is believed that performing the Pitru Dosha Shanti Mahapuja at Kashi's Assi Ghat and the Ganga Dudh Abhishek at Haridwar’s Ganga Ghat brings peace to the ancestors' souls and blessings for the family’s physical and mental health. Therefore, on Shradh Chaturdashi during Pitru Paksha, the Pitru Dosha Shanti Mahapuja at Kashi’s Assi Ghat and the Ganga Dudh Abhishek at Haridwar's Ganga Ghat will be organised. Participate in these rituals through Sri Mandir and receive blessings from your ancestors along with blessings from Maa Ganga. Additionally, during Pitru Paksha, there is a tradition of performing acts of charity for ancestors. It is believed that offerings made during this time yield double the rewards. These offerings include Panch Bhog, lamp offerings (Deep Daan), and Ganga Aarti. By incorporating these additional options—such as Panch Bhog, Deep Daan, and Ganga Aarti—you can enhance the effectiveness of your puja and gain greater benefits. Participate in this special puja through Sri Mandir on this auspicious tithi and receive the blessings of your ancestors.

Pitru Paksha Special Panch Bhog Mahadaan
During the Pitru Paksha period, the act of giving (Daan) is considered highly significant. Religious texts state that offering food to Brahmans (Brahman Bhoj) along with feeding cows, dogs, birds, and ants is considered a meritorious act, known as Panch Bali or Panch Bhog. It is believed that when these beings are fed during Pitru Paksha, the ancestors are satisfied with the food consumed by them and bestow blessings upon their descendants.

The city of Kashi, also known as Banaras and Varanasi, is situated on the banks of the River Ganga. This city is also referred to as the abode of Lord Shiva. Kashi is considered the oldest city in the world. The 84 ghats along the Ganga in this city further elevate its religious significance. People from across the country and abroad come here to take a holy dip in the Ganga. It is believed that taking a holy dip in the Ganga at an auspicious time or on special religious days grants immense blessings and paves the way for spiritual liberation. Performing the Narayan Bali Puja at this sacred place brings peace to the souls of ancestors and leads to their salvation.

Haridwar, known worldwide as a pilgrimage site, is also called the city of Kumbh. During the Maha Kumbh, millions of people from across the globe come to take a dip in the Ganga. Haridwar also has some ancient ghats whose significance is mentioned in ancient scriptures. According to the scriptures, the main purpose of Narayan Bali is to remedy Pitru Dosha, while the purpose of Naag Bali is to atone for the sin of killing a snake or serpent. Performing this puja at the Shri Ganga Ghat helps in resolving Pitru Dosha.
