Amavasya is a day when negative energies are at their peak, and fierce deities are worshipped for protection and strength. When Amavasya falls on a Saturday, it is known as Shani Amavasya. This year, Amavasya on August 23rd falls on a Saturday, and it is the biggest Shani Amavasya of 2025. This is why deities like Kaal Bhairav, Maa Bagalamukhi, and Lord Hanuman, who are known for their fierce nature, are worshipped to seek their blessings and eliminate the influence of these negative forces on this day. As this day is also dedicated to Lord Shani, performing this puja on Shani Amavasya grants devotees his divine grace. Lord Shani, known as the Karm Phal Data, rewards individuals based on their deeds. By engaging in righteous acts like performing puja, devotees not only seek protection but also receive the blessings of Lord Shani, ensuring positive outcomes in their lives. Maa Bagalamukhi, regarded as a powerful form of Goddess Durga, is considered the symbol of enemy destruction and extraordinary strength. According to scriptures, even Lord Rama and the Pandavas sought Maa Bagalamukhi’s blessings for victory. Hence, it is believed that her worship grants freedom from all troubles, fulfillment of desires, and divine protection. Similarly, Kaal Bhairav, a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva, is regarded as the God of Time. The name "Bhairav" means "one who destroys fear". Worshiping Kaal Bhairav on Amavasya is believed to eliminate fear, uncertainty, and negative forces, making this day highly auspicious for his devotion.
Just as Kaal Bhairav is the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman is also considered an incarnation of Shiva. Known as the devoted disciple of Lord Rama and the remover of obstacles (Sankat Mochan), Lord Hanuman symbolizes strength, devotion, and divine protection. According to the Valmiki Ramayana, when Lakshmana fell unconscious in battle, Lord Hanuman brought the Sanjeevani booti and defeated the demon Kalanemi, who was sent by Ravana to stop him. This act earned him the title of "Sankat Mochan," the one who rescues devotees from all hardships. Thus, it is believed that those troubled by negativity, obstacles, or enemy influence can seek liberation, victory, and divine protection through the blessings of these three powerful deities. Therefore, on the biggest Shani Amavasya of the year, the worship of Maa Bagalamukhi will take place at the Maa Bagalamukhi Temple in Ujjain.
