The beginning of the Shravan month is considered highly auspicious and spiritually powerful in Hindu tradition. The entire month is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and it is believed that any worship, sadhana, or mantra chanting performed during this period yields results thousands of times more than on regular days. It is also believed that Lord Shiva rests at Omkareshwar each night after traveling through all three realms. According to legend, this is the sacred place where Shiva and Parvati play a game of chaupar (an ancient board game) at night.
