Pleased with her hospitality, Yama granted a boon that any brother who is tilaked by his sister on this day will be free from the fear of death and escape untimely demise. This is the reason Bhai Dooj is celebrated, and prayers to Maa Yamuna are believed to bring longevity and prosperity to the brother. Additionally, Lord Shani Dev, known for his association with justice and karmic outcomes, is also worshipped on this day.
