Ujjain, known as the city of Mahakal, is home to the famous Mayapati Hanuman Temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Here, Hanuman Ji is worshipped in His Mayapati form. According to the Ramayana, during the Lanka war, when Lakshman Ji was injured and Hanuman Ji was on his way to bring the Sanjeevani herb, Ravana sent a demon named Kalanemi to stop him.
